This guide is for people who are, or are thinking of becoming, board members of a charity registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission (ACNC).

The term 'board members' is used to describe members of the governing body of a charity - the people ultimately responsible for overseeing its operations and making sure it is working towards achieving its charitable purpose.

In your organisation they may be the directors of the board, members of the management committee, the governors or the trustees.
