Housing and homelessness services

  • Oneplace - Find help near you. Search more than 53,000 Queensland family community services at oneplace. oneplace lists everything you need, from emergency relief to domestic and family violence support services. 

  • Homeless hotline – statewide phone information and referral service for people who are experiencing homelessness or are at risk of homelessness. Call 1800 474 753

  • Ask Izzy is a mobile website connecting people who are in crisis with the services they need right now and nearby, including housing and homeless support. They also have a specific COVID-19 support area.

  • The Deck is a resource hub for the housing and homelessness sector. You can find COVID-19 related housing and homelessness information through their updates page.

For tenants

Evictions will be put on hold for six months. Tenants are encouraged to talk to their landlord or property manager about short term agreements. 

  • Queensland Government has also created a new rental grant for Queensland households who have exhausted all other options. The COVID-19 Rental Grant is a one-off payment of up to four weeks rent (maximum of $2000) available to those affected by the pandemic who do not have access to other financial assistance. The grant is paid directly to your lessor. To see if you are eligible, visit the Queensland Government website. If you have questions about your application and the assistance available to you, contact the Residential Tenancies Authority on 1800 497 161 (8:00am to 8:00pm Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm Staurday and Sunday).

Department of Housing and Public Works

The Department of Housing and Public Works' Housing Service Centres remain open to assist existing clients and those who need housing assistance. Call 13 QGOV (13 74 68) or search Housing Service Centre online to contact you nearest Housing Service Centre for housing help. Public housing tenants can download the Tenant Assist Qld app for online self-service. Bond loan and rental grant customers, and those looking for information about housing services can download the Housing Assist Qld app to access services online. Find out more about these apps here.
