Queensland Compact Workforce Development Database

Purpose

The Compact Workforce Development Database is a tool which houses information on training and workforce development opportunities for workers across the Health and Community Services Sector.

Background

Workforce development and workforce planning are critical for the Queensland human services sector as a whole – our population is growing, changing and aging. These population trends will lead to changes in users of services (client demand) and providers of services (workforce supply).

To ensure ongoing quality service delivery which meets the changing needs of individuals and communities, both now and into the future, it is critical that we ensure that the human service system has knowledge of and access to workforce development opportunities and workforce planning tools.

Consultation with organisations across the Health and Community Services Sector in 2010 identified a lack of time and capacity to ‘source’ training opportunities and a need to grow workforce planning capacity.

In 2010, approximately 70 state and national workforce development and volunteering initiatives were identified during Phase 1 of the Compact Governance Committee (CGC) Workforce Development Initiative. In response to consultation findings, the CGC is making this data available as a searchable database to assist organisations to identify workforce development opportunities in their region and across the state.

Audience

Service providers, including regional planning, training and policy coordinators, managers and governance boards across the Health and Community Services Sector seeking local, regional or sector responses to identified workforce development priorities.

Federal, State and Local Government officers supporting sector and workforce development activities.

Industry bodies and relevant State and Commonwealth Government agencies identifying existing gaps and aligning future priorities and investment.
