Real Work. Real People is a campaign developed by the Queensland Department of Communities to promote working in the Community Services Sector.
The sector is a dynamic, exciting and flexible workplace which provides opportunities for individuals to give back to their local community, while still achieving their personal career goals. Even if your interest is in accounting, information technology, management or marketing, there are many ways your skills and qualifications can be used in a community services role to make a difference. Real Work Real People focuses on providing pathways for those interested in entering the sector or who are already working in the sector.
The sector includes a wide range of opportunities in areas such as disabilities, working with children, youth, families and the wider community and features careers in the fields of:
- Domestic violence
- Community development
- Community housing
- Youth work
- Child safety
- Community work
- Crime prevention
- Emergency relief
- Service management and coordination
- Intellectual and physical disabilities
