Secondary training
The senior secondary sector offers opportunities for young people of school age to gain experience and entry-level qualifications into many career areas. The most common way for this to occur in the community services sector is through a school-based apprenticeship or traineeship. These are designed primarily for year 11 and 12 students, with training and work factored into the students timetable to provide a certificate qualification in addition to the Senior Certificate. School-based apprenticeships and traineeships vary from one to three years.
Further information on school-based apprenticeships and traineeships and is available from the Queensland Department of Employment and Training
Depending on local availability, generic senior secondary training pathways into the community services sector may include:
- Certificate I in Work Preparation (Community Services)
- Certificate II in Community Services Work, and
- School-based Traineeship: Community Services Worker.
