Whether you are a volunteer or work in an organisation that supports volunteers, this week you may have been involved in celebrations for National Volunteer Week,  which celebrates the work of volunteers and volunteerism in Australia.

Infoxchange Australia has this week launched a new JobSeeker website. JobSeeker is Australia’s largest online employment gateway for community, health, welfare and government sector jobs. It has been helping organisations find the right staff for over 15 years with personalised support and targeted services that specialise in community sector employment.

Access to ICT can connect communities, especially disadvantaged groups, to services and information and provide a more equal platform to raise issues, lobby governments, access forums, start important conversations and facilitate change.

With the demand for health and aged care services increasing every year, the importance of harnessing the tools of the internet will prove invaluable for this growing sector to effectively and efficiently disseminate information and coordinate services.

Infoxchange is always seeking new opportunities to assist the community sector increase efficiency and effectiveness and from May 1 we are pleased to be expanding our suite of applications with the addition of QIPPS - Quality Improvement Program Planning System. QIPPS is an innovative tool for the planning and evaluation of health projects aimed at promoting best practice, improving knowledge management and supporting workforce development.

Digital proficiency is a key driver to enable more efficient and effective service delivery across the community sector. Over the past year the iTaNGO project (Information Technology Awareness for Non-Government Organisations) has helped to transform the information and communication technology (ICT) landscape of the community service sector.

“Specialist Homelessness Services Collection (SHSC): First Results” was released yesterday by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW).

The report highlights significant improvements to the way data is being collected and reports on the positive impacts that the SHIP application has added to the delivery of services for homelessness agencies across Australia.

As part of the recent Infoxchange office relocation, the GreenPC enterprise has moved headquarters to a larger facility in Footscray, where all technical, support and sales staff will be based in one facility – a one stop shop for all services.

In 2007 the General Assembly of the United Nations proclaimed February 20th the World Day of Social Justice, inviting member states to mark the day and redouble their efforts promoting employment and decent work, gender equity, poverty alleviation and access to social well-being and justice for all.

It is with great pleasure that I introduce myself as the new CEO of Infoxchange Australia. Being offered a role which enables me to contribute to social equality and opportunity through the access to and use of information technology is not only a privilege but also a tremendous challenge.

It is with a heavy heart that I write this, my last Infocast as Executive Director of Infoxchange Australia. But my leaving the organisation after twenty-three years is not the reason for the heavy heart because I leave in the knowledge that the team of people who do most of the work are exceptional and committed to a strong and innovative future.
